NFL 2024: Geno Smith says Metcalf has improved his diet after candy incident

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DeKaylin Zecharius "DK" Metcalf is widely known for his touchdowns and his physique but recently he was in the news due to his diet. According to the reports, last July a piece of news came where Metcalf used to enjoy three bags of candy in a single daily meal on his diet.

Geno Smith backs Metcalf for his diet

Whereas, his quarterback, Geno Smith in an interview on "Good Morning Football" has mentioned that the receiver has tightened his diet up. "DK has had a phenomenal offseason. I think he's going to be the best receiver in football. I think he's going to be the best in the world," added Smith.

In a recent interview with NBA legend Kevin Garnett, Metcalf revealed that he used to drink coffee and eat three bags of candy on a daily basis. He also mentioned that he loves Skittles which he used to include in his diet.

With his diet tightened up, it is still unclear that how much has changed for the receiver. With giving up on his coffee or one bag of candy per day, he still has plenty to offer for the squad.

DK Metcalf 2023 season in a nutshell

In 2022, he had caught 1,048 passing yards with six touchdowns on 90 catches to his name. But come 2023, he had just 66 catches but his yards (1,114) and touchdowns (eight) were more than the previous season.

If Smith can manage to get Metcalf the ball a bit more this season, then he could see his name in the top receivers list for 2024.

If Seattle Seahawks find themselves chasing then Metcalf becomes much of a factor to the team. But, if it's the opposite and the Seahawks are in the lead, then it would be interesting to see how they use the likes of Metcalf.
