On Saturday, 21st September, Major League Baseball (MLB) analyst Ben Verlander spoke about Shohei Ohtani's breathtaking 2024 season. Shohei Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to record 50-50 season. He achieved this feat during the Los Angeles Dodgers win against Miami Marlins (20-4) in which Ohtani hit three home runs and stole two bases.

What did Ben Verlander have to say about Shohei Ohtani?

Before being an analyst, Verlander was selected in the 14th round of the 2013 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers. He stayed with them for five seasons as he played in the minor league. On top of it, he is the brother of Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander.

In Saturday's episode of "Flippin Bats with Ben Verlander", he spoke about how Ohtani is putting in performances day in and out. "Everything with Shohei feels fake. It feels out of a storybook. It feels like fiction, but it's not. First game in MLB history with three home runs and two stolen bases," Ben said.

"Think about it, we're talking about history overall, and this is a big deal because he reached 50-50, but this is also the first game in the history of baseball with three home runs and two stolen bases. Legitimately, in my opinion, the greatest regular season game in baseball history," Ben added.

Shohei Ohtani reaches 52-52 against their win over Colorado Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, 21st September, defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-4 and opened yet another series with a victory. Surprisingly, eight different pitchers took to the mound for the LA Dodgers.

Fresh after reaching the historic 50-50 milestone, Ohtani received a hero's welcome at the Dodger Stadium. He hit another home run and stole a base later in the game saw his tally go up to 52-52.

But, Colorado Rockies fought back in the second game as they defeated Dodgers 6-3.
