Kristaps Porzingis is more than eager to make a return to the Boston Celtics' lineup in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the upcoming season. It is highly unlikely that the centre for the Celtics will be present when the new season kicks off as the NBA champ told ESPN that he will likely make a return in December.

What did Kristaps Porzingis tell ESPN about his return?

Porzingis had to endure injuries in both the regular season and then, later on, the playoffs. He nearly missed 25 games in the regular season. He sustained a unique leg injury in the first round of the playoffs. According to the team, Porzingis' injury was 'a torn medical retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis in his left leg.'

While talking to ESPN, Porzingis said that he is expected to make his return in December but he would like to return earlier than that. "The expectation is sometime in December. But I'm feeling really good and I'm working towards hopefully playing earlier than that," Porzingis said.

The star for Celtics made a return in the NBA Finals but once again he suffered the same injury while playing in Game 2. Later on, in Game 5 he made his return to seal the series.

How was Kristaps Porzingis's performance last year?

Kristaps Porzingis was an important part of the Boston Celtics team last season. After being drafted from the Washington Wizards, Porzingis was in a great position to clinch the title and he made the most out of this opportunity.

Having played 57 regular-season games, he averaged 20.1 points on 51.6% shooting from the field and 37.5% from the three-point line. He had his defensive game on top as he recorded 0.7 steals and 1.9 blocks per game. He was an integral part of the team as his performances made a difference on both ends of the court.

But, during the first-round game against the Miami Heat, Porzingis suffered a leg injury. Following his injury, he was only able to play 19 games for his side, Boston Celtics.
