Shaquille O'Neal's New Competition Offers $20,000 Prize for Independent Artists

Shaquille O'Neal, The LA Lakers ace NBA star is all set to add another business worth celebrating in his already successful resume as an entrepreneur. The current NBA star is all set to launch a new music tournament for Independent artists to compete for a $20,000 prize.

In a conversation with his co-host on his podcast "WHOZFIRE" he announced a music tournament for independent artists on his livestream. 

"I'll tell you what, after what I heard today, $20,000. Some people will get on and don't like to help others. I always help others. DJ Diesel plays unreleased music. Guess what, if you are fire, you are fire. it doesn't matter if you are a superstar or not. So we wanna know who's fire," he said on his livestream.

 

As said in the live stream the competition's format will be song vs. song. It will be organized in a bracket-style tournament just like the NCAA's March Madness Music Festival (National Collegiate Athletic Association).

Shaquille's latest controversy

Shaquille was recently caught in a controversy after he called Rudy Goberts as the Worst NBA player of all time referring as 'WOAT'. Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert Later responded to the critical remark from NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal. In an interview with Complex, the four-time NBA champion argued that Gobert's performance hasn't lived up to the hefty contract he received, thus earning him the 'WOAT' title. WOAT refers to Worst of All Time.

 

Although the question seemed to be asked by the host in a joking way Shaquille O'Neal responded with serious intent, naming Rudy Gobert as the "worst NBA player of all time." O'Neal, who appeared serious throughout his response, also listed Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons as his runner-up for the title.

 

 “Ben Simmons is another bum,' O'Neal claimed. 'Let me tell you why. If you sign a contract for 250 [million], show me 250. There's a reason why I walk funny, why I can't turn my neck - and why I can't do it is because I played for my 120. So you got guys like [Gobert] that f*** the system over there. They're making all this money and they can't f****** play. I don't respect guys like that. Every time I make these comments, people think I'm hating but these are facts," said O Neal.

 

‘It is sad to see someone that has accomplished as much as you did @SHAQ both in sport and business still be triggered by another man’s finances and accomplishments. I get the entertainment part but unlike other folks, you don’t need that stuff to stay relevant,’ Gobert wrote replying to him.
