Watch: 3 Bangladeshi fielders fail to hold on Prabath Jayasuriya's dolly catch in comedy of errors during 2nd Test vs Sri Lanka
Three Bangladeshi fielders made a comedy of a simple Prabath Jayasuriya's catch at slips on Day 2 of the second Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Chittogram.
Bangladesh fielders made a mockery of an easy catch on Day 2 of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittogram on March 31. During the match, three Bangladesh fielders positioned at slip and failed to take a simple catch of Sri Lanka batter Prabath Jayasuriya. No one could hold on to the ball. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto who was placed at the first slip, Shahadat Hossain Dipu stood at the second slip and Zakir Hasan at the third slip, and they all had a chance to catch the ball but ended up squandering it.
Soon after, the hilarious moment started trending on social media space ‘X’ (Formerly Twitter).

At that time, Khaled Ahmed was bowling his 17th over’s last ball. His full-length outside off-delivery took a slight edge off Prabhat Jayasuriya's bat. Jayasuriya had just arrived at the crease and was batting on number 6 when he was dropped. He scored 28 runs and stitched his partnership with Kamindu Mendis, who remained unbeaten on 92. However, Sri Lanka posted a total of 531 in their first innings.
Mendis racked up 102 and 164 in the first Test. He struck Taijul Islam for two sixes in an over to come close to the feat. Apart from Mendis, who was playing only his third Test, Dhananjaya de Silva (70), Dinesh Chandimal (59), Kusal Mendis (93), Dimuth Karunaratne (86), and Nishan Madhushka (57) also notched up half-centuries each.
Shakib Al Hasan finished with figures of 3/110 as Sri Lanka made Bangladesh toil for nearly two days after choosing to bat first. Sri Lanka continued the second day with 314/4.
De Silva, like Mendis, who also belted 102 and 108 in the first Test, hinted at the possibility of scoring a third consecutive century before being dismissed in the post-lunch session.
Chandimal was the only batter to be dismissed in the first session. He edged Shakib behind the stumps after compiling 59 runs. Khaled Ahmed snared De Silva's leg before in the first over after the lunch break.
Khaled could have picked up another wicket in his next over if Jayasuriya had not been dropped by three slip fielders when he was on six.
Mendis was initially given out caught behind on 35 off Mehidy Hasan Miraz, but the decision was overturned after a review.
Shakib hit Jayasuriya plumb in front to halt his 65-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Mendis, who was put down by Hasan Mahmud when he was on 60 at deep square leg.
Sri Lanka emerged victorious in the first Test in Sylhet by 328 runs.
