India have registered a dominating 280-run win against Bangladesh in the first Test match which was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai. Ravichandran Ashwin was awarded Player of the Match for his all-round performance in his 101 Test outing for India. Ashwin smashed a century in the first innings when India's top order failed to perform and managed to get six scalps in the second innings during Bangladesh's chase of 514 runs. Indian young batters Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill also smashed centuries in the second innings which helped India to register a mammoth lead of 513 runs after second innings.
This Test win was the first red-ball victory for India's newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir who was seen giving mixed emotions during the 1st Test match against Bangladesh took his ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) to wish India for their win at Chepauk.
