Is Abhishek Sharma involved in model Tanya Singh's suicide case? Police come up with big update

The tragic suicide of 28-year-old model Tanya Singh, who lived at Happy Elegance Apartment on Vesu Road, Surat, has plunged her family into grief and left authorities searching for clues. Tania, who had been involved in fashion designing and modeling for the last 18 months to two years, ended her life on Tuesday, February 20. Her death has prompted police to begin a preliminary inquiry to understand the factors leading to her tragic end.

During the investigation, police disclosed that star cricketer Abhishek Sharma, a player for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is linked to the case.

ACP V.R. Malhotra of the Surat Police shared with AajTak via telephone that a CD-R (Call Detail Record) report concerning model Tanya Singh's suicide has been made public. According to the report, Tanya Singh, originally from Hyderabad, had sent messages to IPL cricketer Abhishek Sharma on his mobile phone. However there was no revert from the cricketer's end.

Police clear air on Abhishek Sharma's involvement in Tanya's suicide case 

ACP V.R. Malhotra of Surat Police in an exclusive conversation with AajTak, mentioned that the investigation into Tanya's suicide case is ongoing. The mobile's CDR (Call Detail Record) has been extracted. Next, they will be sending out notices. Statements from family members are being taken. He revealed that Tanya was involved in modeling and event management. The ACP also noted that they are investigating some photos of Tanya with Abhishek on Instagram. The police disclosed that messages were sent from Tanya's mobile to Abhishek, but the Indian cricketer did not respond to those messages. He added that if needed, Abhishek Sharma might also be called in for questioning, though no evidence against him has been found so far.

No evidence against Abhishek Sharma

The investigation has not found anything against Abhishek. The ACP of Surat Police mentioned that rumors are spreading from Instagram photos suggesting that the two were friends, and this matter is under investigation. The police have clarified that Tanya did not make any calls to Abhishek, she only sent messages. The 23-year-old Abhishek was busy with the Ranji Trophy recently. He played the last league match of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C for Punjab against Tamil Nadu from February 16 to 19. 

Abhishek Sharma stands out as one of the emerging talents in Indian cricket. Having represented SRH in the Indian Premier League, he has established himself as an aggressive batter. The 23-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2022 season with the franchise, amassing 426 runs. However, in 2023, Sharma's performance dipped, managing to score just 226 runs across 11 games and also took nine wickets. Between 2018 and 2023, he played a total of 47 IPL matches, scoring 893 runs, which includes four half-centuries.
