Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan lavished praise on Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for his captaincy ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match which is scheduled to be played on June 1 at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in East Meadow, New York.

Team India will play the warm-up match against Bangladesh and Shakib hailed Rohit's captaincy in the ODI World Cup which was hosted by India in 2023.

“I think the way he led India in the last few years was terrific. He has a tremendous record as a captain. I think all the players respect him as a leader of the team. He’s someone who can take the game away from the opponent single-handedly,” said in a video shared by Star Sports.

Rohit captained India in 54 T20Is so far and the team managed to win 41 under his leadership. He is just one victory away from becoming the most successful captain for Men in Blue in terms of winning percentage.

Interestingly, Rohit is on the only active member who was featured in India's T20 World Cup 2007 World Cup squad and if India manages to win the title then he will become the only Indian player in history to win a T20 World Cup title twice in his career.

Rohit has slammed 597 sixes in 472 matches, He is just three maximums away from becoming the first cricketer in the World to smash 600 sixes in international cricket.

India captain Rohit is currently the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of T20 World Cups. He scored 963 runs just two runs away from surpassing West Indies legend Chris Gayle.
