After a box office game at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated the win for a few minutes and took time to walk towards the dressing room for the customary handshake. Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni waited for a while before he walked upstairs and did not shake RCB players’ hands. The video created controversy as many felt that Dhoni should have stayed whereas others said that RCB players should have cut-short their celebration and acknowledged the legend.

A day after the controversy, a video of Dhoni signing RCB player Mayank Dagar’s bat in the dressing room is making rounds on the internet. It is not yet clear whether the video is of after CSK’s recent clash against RCB or earlier in the season.

Dhoni contributed with a 13-ball 25 cameo in the must-win game. He departed in the last over after smashing Yash Dayal for the biggest six of the season which resulted in the ball landing outside the stadium.

Meanwhile, there are speculations around Dhoni’s retirement. The 42-year-old went back to Ranchi after CSK missed the playoffs spot. This is the third time in IPL history, CSK have not finished in top four. So far, there is not confirmation over whether Dhoni will hang his boots or return for another Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Will Dhoni retire?

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan in a conversation with Sports Tak on May 20 revealed that Dhoni is yet to talk to anyone at the CSK about his retirement plans.

“He hasn't said anything to us and we can't ask him about it as it is our policy. Once he will be ready with the decision, he will inform us and make the announcement. But, as of now, he hasn't said anything about his future with CSK,” Viswanathan said.
