Disappointment struck for Indian fans when batting maestro Virat Kohli fell cheaply in the T20 World Cup 2024 clash against Pakistan on June 9. The high-octane clash unfolded at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. After India put to bat first, Kohli got off to a brilliant start as he unleashed a majestic cover drive off the very first ball he faced from Naseem Shah. His timing and confidence sparked hope for a dominant innings. However, his stay at the crease proved short-lived. Naseem Shah's third delivery was a short, wide ball outside off-stump. The ball seemed to hold up on the pitch, and Kohli, attempting a quick flick, mistimed the shot and was dismissed.

While Virat Kohli's dismissal against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup cast a shadow over the Indian innings, it was his wife Anushka Sharma's reaction that grabbed online attention. At the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, Kohli attempted a shot over point, only to find the edge and be caught by Usman Khan. Cameras immediately cut to Anushka Sharma in the stands, where her expression of disbelief and disappointment went viral within minutes. The dismissal left not only Kohli but his biggest supporter visibly heartbroken.

This is how Anushka Sharma reacted after Kohli's early dismissal

An over after Kohli's dismissal, captain Rohit Sharma followed suit and fell prey to Shaheen Afridi and returned to the pavilion after scoring just 13 off 12. India's batters continued to stutter after both the openers were removed. Rishabh Pant did try to steady India's boat with his counter-attacking 42 off 31 but to only see India getting reduced to 96/7 after 14.2 overs. Later India got bundled out for mere 119 runs.

However, India staged a remarkable turnaround and clinched a thrilling six-run win over Pakistan riding on Jasprit Bumrah's back-breaking three-fer.
