Left-arm T20 World Cup-winning speedster Arshdeep Singh will reportedly be part of India's squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 which is set to take place in Australia later this year. The young speedster is yet to make his debut in the longest format of the game. However, as per TOI reports the Punjab Kings (PBKS) speedster asked to play a few domestic red-ball games to enhance his chance for the upcoming Test series in Australia.

He will be India's bowling trump along with legendary speedster Jasprit Bumrah in Australia. Arshdeep last featured in the T20 World Cup 2024 where he got 17 scalps in seven outings of the marquee event hosted by USA and West Indies.

“Arshdeep has moved the ball impressively in white-ball matches for India. He could be asked to play a few domestic red-ball games, starting with the Duleep Trophy on September 5, to enhance his chances of selection for the Australia tour. There's a real chance that he could be India's trump card, along with (Jasprit) Bumrah, in Australia” a source told TOI.

The report also revealed that Khaleel Ahmed will likely cement his place in white ball cricket and that is why he was part of Shubman Gill-led India's squad against Zimbabwe. He picked up three wickets in his three outings in five-match T20I series.  Khaleel was part of India's travelling reserve in the T20 World Cup 2024.

"In fact, the selectors are keen on another left-arm pace option in the white-ball side at least, which is why Khaleel Ahmed toured Zimbabwe and has been picked for both the ODIs and T20Is in Sri Lanka," a source told TOI.

Both, Khaleel and Arshdeep will now be seen in action against Sri Lanka where Men in Blue will play three T20Is followed by 3 ODIs scheduled to start from July 27.
