Pakistan’s limited-overs captain Babar Azam faced widespread trolling on social media for his tribute post for England’s legendary pacer James Anderson. Babar did not use the word 'swing' to describe Anderson's bowling but instead used 'cutter'. While he deleted and reposted the tribute message on X, he edited it on Instagram. But by the time Babar changed the caption, screenshots of his post went viral on social media.

"It was a privilege to face your swing, Jimmy! The beautiful game will now miss one of its greatest. Your incredible service to the sport has been nothing short of remarkable. Huge respect for you, GOAT," read Babar’s updated post for soon to be 42-year-old.

Interestingly, Babar has faced just two cutters from Anderson in his career.

Anderson’s performance in farewell Test

Anderson bagged four wickets in his farewell Test at Lord's London against West Indies. He took three wickets in the second innings helping his side bowl out West Indies for 136. Anderson had a chance to take the last wicket but he looked tired towards the end. Gus Atkinson made Jayden Seales his 12th wicket as England won by an innings and 114 runs.

What Anderson said after his farewell Test

Anderson who retired with 704 wickets from 188 Tests was not happy with the dropped catch. However, he was content he was able to play for more than 20 years.

“I'm still gutted I dropped that catch! It's been an amazing week. I've been overwhelmed by the reaction... just proud of what I achieved. This morning was quite emotional with the two teams lined up and the reaction from the crowd was pretty special... playing for 20-odd years is an incredible effort, especially for a fast bowler, so I'm just happy I've made it this far. Playing for England is the best job in the world. I've been privileged to do it for a long time,” he in the post-match presentation.

“We talk a lot in the dressing room about creating memories. It's not just for us, it's for our families as well... they've been incredible support back home and allowed me to play as long as I have. Grateful for what they've done for me, and grateful they were here. I've been lucky to play with some of the most talented cricketers that have ever played the game, but more importantly, some really good blokes and some friends I've made for life... Part of me is a little bit jealous that these lads get to experience it for the next few years,” the Lancashire-born bowler added.
