Emotional Babar Azam pens heartwarming goodbye message to BPL franchise Rangpur Riders, says 'My heart is full of...'

Former Pakistan captain and superstar batter, Babar Azam recently concluded his tenure with the Rangpur Riders in the 2024 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), marking the end of a fruitful phase with an emotional farewell message. The 29-year-old cricket star, who joined the Riders after participating in a T20I series against New Zealand, proved to be a valuable player for the team.

Granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) until February 6, Babar's next cricketing chapter involves playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL). He took the opportunity to express his appreciation for the Rangpur Riders, showing his support and hope for their success in clinching the BPL title.

"Dear Rangpur Riders Family, To the champions, I've had an incredible time with each one of you," read a message written by Babar and shared by Rangpur Riders franchise on X (formerly Twitter).

"My heart is full of gratitude for the love, support, guidance, and care you've all shown. A sincere thank you to the whole team. The selfless teamwork displayed throughout this tournament has truly made a difference.

"I'm also deeply thankful to the coaching staff for everything. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

"Let's keep our focus and bring the cup home, brothers. I'm wishing you all the best. I'm confident our paths will cross again in the future.

"With all my love and respect," he added.

Babar Azam's brilliant performance in BPL 2024

During his stint in the BPL 2024, Babar Azam emerged as the tournament's top run-scorer before his departure. Throughout six matches, the Lahore-born batsman amassed 251 runs, boasting an impressive average of 50.20 and a strike rate of 114.61. His performance was highlighted by two half-centuries, with his best score being 62 runs against Durdanto Dhaka at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Despite a minor setback against the Khulna Tigers, where he scored only 2 runs, Babar consistently delivered notable scores of 56 not out, 62, 37, 47, and 47 in his other appearances.

Babar Azam closes in on 10,000 runs in T20s

Babar Azam is on the brink of a significant milestone, as he approaches becoming the 13th batter to surpass 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. With only 74 runs needed to reach this landmark, the accomplished right-handed batsman looks forward to potentially achieving this feat during his time in the PSL.
