Babar Azam shatters Chris Gayle's record for fastest batter to reach 10,000 T20 runs; check 5 quickest players to achieve massive feat here

Pakistan's Babar Azam became the fastest batter to reach 10,000 runs in T20s while playing for Peshawar Zalmi against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore.

Pakistan batter Babar Azam made history by becoming the fastest batter to reach 10,000 runs in T20s, which includes international cricket, franchise cricket, and domestic T20 cricket. He achieved this feat while playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 for Peshawar Zalmi against the Karachi Kings in Lahore on February 21.

 

Here are the five T20 batters who have reached the fastest 10,000-run mark 

 

Babar Azam

Former Pakistan captain Babar became the fastest batter to reach 10,000 runs in T20s in 271 innings. 29-year-old Babar belted ten centuries and 88 half-centuries across T20I and franchise cricket.

 

Chris Gayle

Gayle is one of the greatest T20 batters as he is known for his amazing six-hitting ability. In 463 matches, the former West Indies captain has scored 14562 runs with 22 centuries and 88 half-centuries. He earned this milestone in 285 innings while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against the now-defunct franchise Gujarat Lions (GL) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2017 in Rajkot.

 

Virat Kohli

Indian batting maestro Kohli has been one of the most consistent performers in the shortest format. He achieved the 10,000-run mark in 299 innings during the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where Mumbai Indians (MI) were facing RCB on September 26 in Dubai. In 376 matches, 35-year-old Kohli has scored 11,994 runs with eight centuries and 91 half-centuries.

 

David Warner

Warner has been a T20 superstar, performing in both international cricket and IPL. Warner hit the 10,000 run mark for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during IPL 2021 in Delhi. The 37-year-old has played 369 matches and scored 12033 runs, with eight centuries and 101 half-centuries.

 

Aaron Finch

2021 T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch has been one of the most dominant batters in the shortest format. Finch reached the 10,000 run mark during the 2021 Big Bash League (BBL) while playing for the Melbourne Renegades against the Perth Scorchers on December 22 in Melbourne. In 387 matches, 37-year-old Finch has scored 11458 runs with eight centuries and 77 fifties.
