'Can't choose on basis of IPL performance': BCCI secretary makes massive remark on India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad selection

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has revealed that performance in IPL was not the only criteria for selection in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad selection.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah made stunning remarks on the selection of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be held in the USA and West Indies. He said IPL performances were not the only criteria for selection, they had to consider overseas condition experience as well.

Jay Shah revealed that the squad has a good balance of form and experience. He said the selectors didn't choose the squad just on the basis of performance in IPL. Experience in overseas conditions was also put into consideration.

 

"The selectors can't choose on the basis of IPL performance alone, as overseas experience is also necessary," Jay Shah was quoted by Times of India.

Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.

 

Reserves - Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan.

 

India will play their first and only warm-up game on June 1 against Bangladesh in the United States. The venue and the time of India’s warm-up encounter are yet to be announced.
