Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are currently preparing for the upcoming Test series between England and Pakistan which is scheduled to start from October 7. With less than one month remaining for the 1st Test match the cricket board is yet to confirm the schedule and venue for the red-ball series. The matches are supposed to take place in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan, but the ongoing construction work at the venues for the ICC Champions Trophy has left PCB concerned. There were rumours that the cricket board would shift the venue.

Most of the Pakistan stadiums are currently under renovation for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 hosted by PCB next year.

“With less than a month remaining for the first Test, the international department is yet to even decide where the first match would be held,” an insider confided to PTI.

Mohsin Naqvi for Pakistan vs England Test series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi is keen to host the Test series at the same venue amid preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2024. Earlier PCB shifted the venue for Test match against Bangladesh.

“The Chairman has made it clear that relocating the series would damage the image of the PCB, and Rawalpindi and Multan should be used as the venues for the three-match series,” he said.

“The Chairman is not happy because the more the announcement of venues and itinerary is delayed the more it affects the board’s revenue generation opportunities from the three matches,” the insider said.
