Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President Jagan Mohan Rao Arishnapally has announced a big reward for Hyderabad players if they manage to secure victory in the Ranji Trophy within the next three years.

Under the leadership of Tilak Varma, the Hyderabad team emerged victorious in the Plate group final, earning promotion to the Elite group after defeating Meghalaya by five wickets. Following this achievement, the Hyderabad Cricket Chief pledged to reward the players. He stated that each player would receive a BMW car and a cash prize of one crore rupees.

Reward was aimed at motivating players: Jagan Mohan Rao

In an interview with the New Indian Express, Rao expressed that the reward was intended to inspire both the players and other stakeholders. He further elaborated that he set a three-year timeframe as achieving immediate success isn't realistically feasible.

"It (announcement) was aimed at motivating the players and other stakeholders. Achieving the target next year is realistically not possible so I gave them three seasons," said Rao.

Rao has also proposed a restructuring of Hyderabad cricket's framework, considering that the team's last victory in the Ranji Trophy occurred during the 1986-87 season.

"We had our first annual general meeting on Sunday wherein we discussed the way forward. At the moment, there is Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence at the Gymkhana Grounds. I have proposed four satellite academies in four different parts of the city to make sure budding cricketers are scouted and given requisite facilities near their localities. As many as 10 districts come under HCA, so we have planned a mini stadium at each district headquarters to identify and groom talents. The iconic Moin-ud-Dowlah tournament will also be revamped,” said the HCA president.
