India captain Harmanpreet Kaur lavished praise on Richa Ghosh after defeating United Arab Emirates (UAE) to seal their berth in the semi-final of the ongoing Asia Cup 2024. Harmanpreet & Co. defeated Esha Rohit Oza-led side by 78 runs in their second match of the marquee event to qualify for the semis at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla.
Harmanpreet also revealed that she told Richa to keep watching the ball and see how the wicket is playing.
“Yeah I'm absolutely fine (she was off the field towards the end). Great feeling. When Jemi and I were batting, we spoke that we had to run hard rather than just going for risky shots. Our focus was on getting 7-8 runs per over. When Richa came, I just told her to keep watching the ball and see how wicket is playing. She batted beautifully" said Harmanpreet Kaur in post match conference.
Harmanpreet also revealed that her role was just to rotate the strike and score boundaries on loose balls.

My role was just to stay on the pitch and keep rotating strike. Whenever loose balls come, convert them to the boundary. Credit to Richa. Because of her we reached the target. Special innings for me (anniversary of her knock against Australia). Great memory overall whenever we talk women's cricket in India. It always gives me positive vibes” added Harmanpreet Kaur.
Richa who scored 64 runs from 29 balls became the highest run-scoring wicketkeeper-batter in the history of Women's T20 Asia Cup history. She surpassed Bangladesh's Nigar Sultana who scored 53 runs off 34 balls against Malaysia in the last edition of the tournament.
