CSK vs KKR: Ravindra Jadeja creates history, becomes 1st ever cricketer in IPL to record this mammoth feat
Ravindra Jadeja etched his name in IPL history as he became the the first cricketer to notch a unique triple of 1000 runs, 100 wickets, and 100 catches in the glitzy league.
Chennai Super Kings' star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja etched his name in IPL history on Monday, April 8. He became the first player ever to achieve a unique triple of scoring 1000 runs, taking 100 wickets, and grabbing 100 catches in the tournament. Jadeja achieved this feat during Chennai Super Kings versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL 2024 clash at Chepauk. This milestone wasn't just a statistical achievement, it was a testament to Jadeja's all-around brilliance. He contributed significantly in the field, grabbing two crucial catches – one each from Phil Salt and Shreyas Iyer. But his most impactful contribution came with the ball. Jadeja stifled the flow of runs and dismantled the KKR batting order completely with his match-winning spell of 3/18. His exceptional four-over spell saw him pick up three vital wickets – Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Venkatesh Iyer – effectively breaking the back of the opposition's batting line-up.
This performance not only marked a return to form for Jadeja but also proved instrumental in securing a crucial victory for the Chennai Super Kings.

The tide turned for Ravindra Jadeja in the match against KKR on Monday. After a string of underwhelming performances with the ball, only managing one wicket in the previous four matches, Jadeja silenced his critics with a stellar bowling display.
Right from his first over, Jadeja stamped his authority on the game. He dismissed two crucial batsmen, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and the dangerous Sunil Narine, in quick succession. His economical bowling kept the pressure on the KKR batters, and he wasn't done yet. In the 9th over, he added another wicket to his tally, dismissing Venkatesh Iyer. His impressive four-over spell yielded a phenomenal 4-0-18-3 figure, effectively dismantling the KKR batting line-up. This dominant performance not only propelled CSK to victory but also marked a significant return to form for Jadeja, boosting his confidence considerably.
Jadeja was awarded the player of the match for this stunning spell. In the post-match presentation Jadeja said that if one keeps bowling in good areas, the reward will follow.
“Always enjoy my bowling on these kind of tracks. Was just looking to bowl in good areas. I've practiced a lot here - if you bowl in good areas, it helps you. Takes time for visiting team to settle down and plan something. Difficult for them to come here and identify the surface. We know the conditions very well,” Jadeja said in the post-match presentation.
CSK will next face Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede stadium on April 14 in Mumbai.
