'God of Chennai....temples would be built': Former cricketer hails MS Dhoni after CSK' victory lap in Chepauk

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu hailed ex-Chennai Super Kings captain as the 'God of Chennai' and believes there will be temples of him after a couple of years.

Chennai Super Kings boost their playoff chances after their big 5-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals at MA Chidambaram Stadium, on May 12 (Sunday). MS Dhoni did not get the opportunity to bat in the match but he ensured that the people who came to the Chepauk to witness CSK's last home game did not go home disappointed. Dhoni along with the rest of his teammates did a victory lap around the ground and gave goodies to the fans in the stands. Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu hailed Dhoni as the God of Chennai and said there would be temples of him in the coming years.

Ambati Rayudu who was also part of CSK's IPL 2023 winning campaign under MS Dhoni's captainship praised the former Chennai captain for his contribution to the game of cricket. He even put Dhoni on the pedestal of God.

"He is the God of Chennai and I am sure, temples of MS Dhoni would be built in the years to come in Chennai. He is someone who brought India the joy of two World Cups and has brought Chennai joy with a lot of IPL and Champions League titles. He has just been that one guy who shows belief in his players, who has always done it for the team, for the country and for CSK.“He is a legend and someone everybody celebrates in the crowd. They might be thinking that this might be his last game in Chennai," Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports.

 

MS Dhoni's farewell at Chepauk?

 

There is a massive buzz around MS Dhoni's potential retirement after this season. If CSK fail to qualify for the playoffs, the clash against RR could potentially be CSK's final game at the iconic Chepauk Stadium. When CSK posted and asked fans to stay back at the ground after the match, many thought Dhoni might announce his retirement.

 

MS Dhoni is the most successful skipper in IPL history. He is dealing with a lot of back and knee issues but despite them has been pushing himself to perform for the team.
