Did David Warner play a prank about stolen Baggy Green? Batting juggernaut says '...there was nothing'
Australia's batting juggernaut David Warner revealed that he is still in dark about how he united with his lost Baggy Green cap which was mysteriously found at Sydney hotel.
Australian opening batsman David Warner remains puzzled over the mysterious disappearance and subsequent return of his Baggy Green cap during the third Test against Pakistan at SCG. Before the start of the third Test against Pakistan, which marked his farewell Test, Warner disclosed that his Baggy Greens had been stolen. He made a heartfelt public request for assistance in locating them.
Warner explained that his Baggy Green went missing during transit from Melbourne to Sydney before his farewell Test. Emphasising that reaching out to the public was his final option, he mentioned that despite reviewing CCTV footage from his team hotel and the airline QANTAS, he had little success in uncovering their whereabouts.
During the course of the match, Warner unexpectedly received his Baggy Greens back, as he was given the backpack that contained them. Cricket Australia later disclosed that the bagpack had been found outside the team hotel. In the post-match press conference, Warner humorously remarked, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, that he wished he could pull off such a prank himself.
The star Australian opener admitted he was still unclear about the entire incident involving his Baggy Green, as he ultimately just received the backpack without further explanation.
"You're going to have to ask security. I wish I'd played a prank like that," Warner said. "You'll have to ask Frank [Dimasi] or Stu Bailey [security staff]. I literally got it handed to me and there was nothing [said to me]. That's legitimate," Warner said.
Warner Bows Out from Tests In Style
In his final Test innings, David Warner stylishly concluded his Test career with a solid 57, playing a pivotal role in leading Australia to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Pakistan. Although he couldn't follow it up with a century but his innings came handy in Australia clinching the 3-0 series win. As Australia were just 11 runs shy of sealing their third straight win in the three-match Test series, Warner's innings ended with an lbw dismissal by Sajid Khan. He received a rousing ovation from the SCG audience as he acknowledged them while departing.
