End of Rahul Dravid's Tenure? Jay Shah confirms BCCI inviting applications for India's head coach post

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that the Indian cricket board will soon be inviting applications for the post of Team India's head coach. Rahul Dravid's tenure will come to an end after the upcoming season of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be held in the United States and West Indies.

Rahul Dravid can re-apply

Jay Shah has confirmed that even Rahul Dravid can really for the post and that the board is open to accepting applications even from foreign candidates. The contract will be for three years and the final decision will be made by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

"Rahul Dravid’s tenure is till the World Cup, we will be inviting applications soon for the post of head coach and if Dravid wants to re-apply, he can do it. We have decided the criteria. Thereafter we will invite applications for support staff in consultation with the Cricket Advisory Committee. The coach’s tenure will be of three years," Jay Shah said during an interaction in Mumbai.

 

Will there be different coaches for different formats?

 

Jay Shah has turned down the discussion on having different coaches for different formats and will be having one single coach to guide the Men in Blue as there are many all-format players in their team like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant.

 

“That decision will also be made by the CAC. There are many all-format players, like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant, among others. Moreover, there is no precedent for such a situation in India,” said Jay Shah.
