Owing to a calf injury, Jos Buttler will not play in the forthcoming ODI series against Australia. Star batter Harry Brook has been named captain in his absence. For the series, Liam Livingstone has been cast as Buttler's replacement. Butter was not selected to play in the Manchester Originals Hundred Men's competition or the T20Is versus the Australian side.

Buttler's last cricket match was in June, during the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal matchup with India. The veteran intended to make a comeback during the T20 Blast's knockout rounds, but he was unable to do so because of a setback in his recovery.

Additionally, Brook will be leading the Three Lions for the first time on an international platform. At the 2018 World Cup in New Zealand, Brook, 25, captained the England U19 squad. He led the Northern Superchargers in the Hundred this year and captained Yorkshire in the T20 Blast in 2022.

John Turner, a young fast bowler for Hampshire who has participated in five first-class, seventeen List A, and twenty-seven T20 matches since making his debut in 2021, will also be highlighted.

The first game of the five-match ODI series takes place at Nottingham's Trent Bridge on Thursday, September 19. The last four matches are scheduled for September 21, 24, 27, and 29 at Leeds, Chester-le-Street, Lord's, and Bristol, respectively.
