Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team has defeated Najmul Hossain Shanto's Bangladesh side by a massive margin of 280 runs in the first Test of the two-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on September 22 (Sunday). The Indian side has created a historical record that has never happened before in Indian history. This win in the first Test against Bangladesh has helped them to reach a crucial milestone. Their win-loss ratio in red-ball cricket shows more victory than losses for the first time in 92 years.

In the history of Test cricket, India has so far played a total of 580 matches. In which Team India has so far won 179 matches. India has had to face defeat in 178 matches and 222 of them ended in a draw, while one tied. Prior to this clash, India had wins and losses in 178 matches and now for the first time in the history of Indian Test cricket, the number of Test matches won by Team India is more than the number of Test matches lost.

India join an elite club with Pakistan

 

There are only four teams in the history of Test cricket that have more wins than losses. Australia have 414 wins and 232 losses in 866 test matches. England has 397 wins and 325 losses in a total of 1077 test matches. Then South Africa have a record of 179 wins and 161 losses in 466 test matches. Whereas Pakistan has 148 wins and a total of 144 losses in 458 matches. India is the latest member of this elite club and would also have the opportunity to extend the gap between their wins and losses by winning the second Test.
