Former 2-time PCB chairman dies at age 89 in Lahore; Pakistan Cricket Board releases statement
Shaharyar Khan served as the (Pakistan Cricket Board) PCB chairman for two terms, first from December 2003 to October 2006 and then from August 2014 to August 2017.
March 23 (Saturday), 2024, marked a sad day for Pakistan Cricket as the two-time chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar Khan breathed his last in Lahore. The PCB released a statement an revealed the news of Shaharyar Khan's death at the age of 89. Shaharyar served as the PCB chairman for two terms, first from December 2003 to October 2006 and then from August 2014 to August 2017.
"On behalf of the PCB, I express my deep condolences and grief over the passing of former Chairman Shaharyar Khan. He was a fine administrator and served Pakistan Cricket with utmost dedication. Pakistan Cricket will stay indebted to the late Shaharyar Khan for his commendable role as head of the board and for his services in the growth and development of the game in the country,” PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said in the statement.
Shaharyar also served as team manager
Before beginning his first term as the chairman of the PCB, Shaharyar Khan had worked as Pakistan men's senior team's manager twice. His first stint as the manager of the side came when Pakistan toured India in 1999.
During the 2003 ODI World Cup, Shaharyar served again as the manager of the Pakistan cricket team.
