'He can knock your pegs up': Dale Steyn warns Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli of this big threat ahead of India vs Afghanistan Super 8 clash
Dale Steyn warned Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 tie against Afghanistan. He said that Fazalhaq Farooqi will knock their pegs up in the upcoming clash.
South Africa legendary speedster Dale Steyn warned India's opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 clash against Afghanistan. The 40-year-old said that Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi will be a big threat to India considering his form in the ongoing event in the West Indies and the USA.
Fazalhaq is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, he picked up 12 wickets in the three outings which helped Afghanistan to qualify for the Super Eight.
Dale Steyn for India
"Be careful Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma; he can knock your pegs up," said Steyn in a Star Sports video, talking about the in-form Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi.
Indian openers Rohit and Virat are currently struggling with the form. The Indian captain scored a half-century in the first outing and after that, he was unable to cross the 10-run mark. On the other hand, stylish batter Kohli just scored five runs in his three outings for India including his first golden duck in the history of T20 World Cup 2024.
Interestingly, while Steyn alerted Kohli and Rohit to the danger posed by Farooqi, the South African didn't pick either of the two openers as the Indian batsman to watch out for in the contest."Starting with India, from a bowling point of view, Jasprit Bumrah. Absolutely phenomenal! He's great with all three disciplines - Tests, T20s, ODIs," said Steyn.
India will face Afghanistan on June 20 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados this will be the 43rd match of the tournament.
India's Semifinal Qualification Scenario
Team India will play three matches in the Super Eight where they will face Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Australia. To book their berth into the semifinals the Men in Blue will have win at least two games.
Barbados weather forecast
The Barbados weather forecast predicts does not predict a lot of rain. The precipitation chances will only go up to 20 percent, so there are very slight chances of it playing spoilsport. Earlier, a couple of games were abandoned due to rain as well but hopefully, that won't be the sight during today's game and the match can proceed and have a result with only a few interruptions expected. If rain causes a washout both teams will have to share a point.
