Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered their narrowest defeat by margin of runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Rajasthan Royals' (RR) Rovman Powell missed a full toss from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and got out lbw as SRH won by one run. Before Bhuvneshwar won the game for SRH, Pat Cummins bowled a fantastic over barring the last ball that went for a six. Cummins' teammate Travis Head feels that the skipper will be disappointed with the ball that went for a six.

RR needed 19 runs in the final two overs. Cummns bowled one on Dhruv Jurel's pads and he found the fielder at deep square leg with perfection. Ravichandran Ashwin walked out to bat and took a single. Powell who was batting for 11 from six deliveries was expected to hit the big shots. But Cummins bowled two slower bouncers and a yorker to make it tough for RR. But on the last ball, he erred with his length and was smashed for a six over deep extra cover.

“It's a good win, it's probably one that we didn't expect at the end there. Cummins and Bhuvi showed their class at the end and got us a nice win. We've been playing well, we've had a couple of losses, nice for the energy. It was challenging but with the wicket and the way Pat bowled the 19th over, he'd be disappointed with the last ball, but class at the end, two class players, two of the old boys,” Head told the broadcasters after SRH’s thrilling win at home.

Head praises Reddy

Head lauded Nitish Reddy who scored 76 runs from 42 balls to help SRH post 201/3 on the board despite two early wickets. Head shared a 96-run partnership for the third wicket with the young all-rounder.

“Very satisfied with the win. I thought that (201) was a great score. Nitish played out of his skin again. He's had a couple of innings now where's he's stepped up, made it look really easy. It was a tough pitch. I felt we had heaps but that's T20 cricket, it comes down to the wire most times. Always nice to win in front of your home fans,” he added.

This was SRH's sixth win from 10 games. It helped them climb to the fourth spot on the points table. They are just behind Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on the basis of net run rate (NRR).
