It was a rare sight at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh as Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shikhar Dhawan was out stumped against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. SRHโ€™s South African wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen was fast as he took off the bails in one quick motion, not giving Dhawan any time to attempt and get get back into the crease. After SRHโ€™s narrow two-run victory over PBKS, Bhuvneshwar recalled the last time a batter got out stumped off his bowling in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In IPL 2013, Bhuvneshwar played for now-defunct Pune Warriors India. In the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Bhuvneshwar got opener Manvinder Bisla stumped. Mahesh Rawat was the wicketkeeper for the Pune-based franchise. He picked up three wickets in the game.

โ€œI asked him (Klaasen) to come up, Shikhar was stepping out and I wanted to get something off the wicket. I think when I was playing for Pune Warriors (last time he had a batter stumped),โ€ Bhuvneshwar told the broadcasters after the match when asked about the stumping.

Bhuvneshwar creates IPL history

Bhuvneshwar also became the first fast bowler in eight years to get a batter stumped in the IPL. The last time it took place was when Sandeep Sharma got Brendon McCullum stumped. So far, only eight fast bowlers have got a batter stumped in IPL. Bhuvneshwar became the only bowler in IPL history to achieve this feat twice.

Bhuvneshwar goes past Ashwin

Bhuvneshwar also picked up the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh with the new ball. In his quota of four overs, he bowled a maiden and conceded 32 runs.

The 34-year-old also became the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL. He went past Ravichandran Ashwin who has 172 wickets. Bhuvneshwar has 173 wickets from 165 games now.

Bhuvneshwar praises young all-rounder

The veteran pacer praised young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy who scored his maiden IPL fifty to help SRH recover from top-order collapse.

โ€œHe batted really well, last game also we saw how he batted and young talent is coming up in Indian cricket which is a good sign,โ€ he said.
