How will Pakistan tackle Virat Kohli in T20 World Cup 2024? Babar Azam without any plans for New York matches

Despite Virat Kohli's record against Pakistan, skipper Babar Azam does not want to plan against just him and wants to focus on the team ahead of T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan men's cricket team captain Babar Azam before flying off to Ireland for the three-T20I series addressed the media at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Pakistan will play three T20Is against Ireland followed by four T20Is against defending champions England before flying to Americas for the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan will take on India in New York on June 9. The last time India took on Pakistan in a T20 World Cup game, Virat Kohli snatched a win from the jaws of defeat. But Babar does not want to plan just against Kohli. Also, plans will be formulated once they reach New York and assess the conditions.

"As a team, you always plan against different teams and according to their strengths. We don't plan anything against only one player. We plan for all eleven players. We don't know much about the conditions in New York and we will plan accordingly. He [Virat Kohli] is one of the best players, and we will plan against him as well," Babar was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Babar also said that he is happy with his initial discussions with the new head coach of the T20I team, Gary Kirsten who is currently associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans (GT).

"He [Gary Kirsten] was already working, and then PCB offered him the job, which he accepted. He is very enthusiastic about our discussions and is making every effort to join the team as soon as possible," said the 29-year-old.

Pakistan are yet to announced their squad for the World Cup as they have picked an 18-member squad for the Ireland and England tours. Their top order is yet to fire since Babar took over the reins again.

“There is no issue about the top order as to who will open from amongst me, Rizwan, Saim or Fakhar. All decisions will be based on keeping in mind the team’s interests. There is no confusion there,” Babar said.
