'I'm sure this series won't be....': Australia star opens up on India vs Australia Test rivalry ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024
Team India will look for a win hattrick on Australian soil in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 and this will be the first Test series for Rohit Sharma in Australia as a captain.
India are currently preparing for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh which is scheduled to start from September 19. Bangladesh will play three T20Is and two Test matches against Men in Blue. After Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma & Co. will host New Zealand for the three Test match series which will start from October 16. After that team India will gear up for the highly anticipated tour of Australia which is scheduled to take place in November, India will play five Test matches against Australia where the goal is nothing less than a historic hat-trick of series victories on Australian soil. In total India will play 10 Test matches till January.
India won their first-ever Test series on Australian soil in the 2020/21 season under Virat Kohli's captaincy to become the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia. This landmark achievement in Indian cricket was followed by an even more remarkable sequel two years later. Despite a squad ravaged by injuries and absences, the Indian team defied the odds to secure a 2-1 series victory, cementing their place in cricketing history.

Australia's star all-rounder, Cameron Green weighed in on the series now, as he spoke in detail about the rivalry between the two teams.
"Yeah, I think it's always an amazing rivalry and I think lots of things come out of the tournament every single time we go versus each other. So yeah, I'm sure this series won't be any less. So yeah, looking forward to it," Green stated on Star Sports, acknowledging the fierce competition between the two cricketing giants.
"Every single point is pretty crucial for the World Test Championship. Any way you can kind of get an idea of how to get one up on your opponent, I think we'll try and take," he explained.
This time, Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team into Australia, carrying the heavy burden of expectation and history. The challenge is intensified by skepticism from Australian cricket legends, including former captain Ricky Ponting, who have openly questioned India's ability to repeat their previous successes, suggesting that this series may be their toughest yet.
