'I don't come from a rich family': Pakistan captain Babar Azam opens up on his struggling days ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan captain Babar Azam revealed that his parents supported him a lot during the initial days of his career ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 which is scheduled to start from June 2 in the USA and West Indies. The 29-year-old batter is currently in the States for their opener clash at the marquee event. 

While asked about his struggles and family support, Babar said that It was very difficult for him to play with the hard ball. 

"I don't come from a rich family, and we didn't have money all the time. But my parents supported me a lot. I used to play street cricket growing up, and playing cricket with a hard ball was very difficult" said Babar on Ab de Villiers show. 

Babar-led Pakistan have reached the USA after finishing the T20I series against England where they will play their tournament opener clash against the United States on June 6. After that, the team will face arch-rivals India on June 9 at the newly constructed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in East Meadow, New York. 

 After the series loss against England, Pakistan will play their first practice match at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas ahead of the opener clash.
 

Babar is the only Pakistan captain who led their team to victory against India twice in multi-national T20 tournaments. Under his leadership, India lost in T20 World Cup 2021 and Asia Cup which was Played in 2022.
