'I look so stupid...': Virat Kohli reveals his biggest fear ahead of MI vs RCB's high-voltage drama

In a surprising revelation ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) match against Mumbai Indians (MI), batting maestro Virat Kohli shared his biggest fear in a viral video. This IPL season is crucial for Kohli, not just for his team RCB, but also with the T20 World Cup looming in June. He aims to showcase the effectiveness of his batting style – which is a blend of both powerful strokes and anchoring the innings – even as the current trend in T20 cricket leans towards explosive batting right from the start.

However, right ahead of the high-octane clash between MI and RCB Kohli opened up on his biggest feat. However, his fear has nothing to do with cricket field but with turbulence of aeroplane. Kohli admitted to gripping his seat tightly whenever the plane experiences rough air, even calling himself silly for it.

"I am very scared of turbulence. Oh my god, I look so stupid and like a fool. Whenever there is bad turbulence, I am the first guy to hold the sides of the seat. So I feel like, I am gone," Kohli said in the RCB Podcast Trailer.

Despite Kohli's impressive individual form in the ongoing IPL 2024, things haven't been smooth sailing for his team RCB. Kohli has been on fire, already scoring a century and amassing a total of 316 runs in just five matches, boasting a phenomenal average of 105.33. Kohli is currently holding the coveted Orange Cap with, courtesy to his of his superlative 113-run knock off just 72 balls, although it wasn't enough to secure victory for RCB against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their recent encounter. However, Kohli's knock wasn't without criticism. Many questioned his strike rate, particularly during the early stages of the innings. While RCB started strong with a score of 88 for no loss in the first 10 overs, Kohli's batting pace drew some flak, despite him and skipper Faf du Plessis successfully navigating the initial bowling attack.

Virat Kohli's childhood coach slams strike rate critics

Amid the chatter around Kohli's strike rate his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma slammed the critics who were targeting RCB's superstar batter for his shlow knock.

"Those who have been saying that it was a slow century should realize the situation of the match, the score, and his strike rate. They know that if they talk about Virat Kohli, they will get the limelight, and their news will become popular," Rajkumar Sharma said during a conversation with Indian News.

 

"I have sent you Virat's stats. You should see his strike rate and the percentage of runs in knockout matches for India at T20 World Cups. They don't have any knowledge of cricket. Wickets kept falling at the other end, but still, he continued scoring at a strike rate of around 135. Look, this is a lobby which is running an agenda. They're just pushing an agenda, and as fans or true analysts we don't care about their agenda. See, the king will always be the king. A person who knows even the 'C' of cricket would never do such nonsense," Sharma concluded.

 

Despite Kohli's red-hot form, RCB find themselves in a rut as they are currently languishing in ninth place in the IPL 2024's points table with just one win from their first five matches. RCB will next face Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday, April 11 at the Wankhede Stadium.
