'I would want to ruin that farewell for him': West Indies' Gabba hero's sensational statement ahead of James Anderson's last Test

West Indies pace sensation, Shamar Joseph, who wreaked havoc at the Gabba to create history against Australia is all set to ruin James Anderson's farewell at Lord's. Joseph said he has looked up to James Anderson who made his Test debut less than four years after the Caribbean pacer was born. He feels that Anderson’s achievements are perfect given the amount of cricket the Lancashire-born pacer has played.
 

“He is such an amazing player. Someone I have looked up to. Someone who is very good at this level. You could say he’s perfect because he has a lot of wickets at this level. Definitely, I would want to ruin that farewell for him,” Joseph told reporters on July 8.
 

Excited Joseph wants to replicate what Archer, Starc did

The overcast conditions in England help the pacers. Joseph whose pace is similar to that of Mark Wood is excited to be bowling there. He recalled watching the likes of Jofra Archer, Mitchell Starc bowling at the venue.
 

“I’m excited to be here. England is known for a good fast bowling. Oh they’re great. Watching a lot of the Ashes with great fast bowlers, Jofra Archer, Mitchell Starc, all the great fast bowlers come out here and do well. That’s something I would want to do as well,” the 24-year-old added.

Where do West Indies stand on WTC points table

West Indies are sixth on the points table of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) with one win, one draw and two losses from four games. On the other hand, England are at the bottom of the points table with three wins, six losses and one draw from 10 Tests.

West Indies high on spirits after beating Australia

Joseph wants to carry the momentum after the historic win at the Gabba which was inspired by his seven-wicket haul in the fourth innings.
 

“Since our last tour of Australia, we maintain our energy. That’s the mindset we come into this series with (that West Indies can compete against England),” he said.
