IND vs BAN: Axar Patel likely to be rested for first Test match between India and Bangladesh; Check details
India star spinner Axar Patel and wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel will reportedly benched in the 1st Test match against Bangladesh which will be played on September 19.
Rohit Sharma-led team India are currently in Chennai for the 1st Test match against Bangladesh which will take place on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have already announced the squad for the Chepauk Test match where the likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant are making their comeback in the Indian squad. This Test series will be the first red-ball assignment for Pant after recovering from the near-fatal accident. Virat Kohli who last played his Test match against South Africa in 2023/24 will also feature against Bangladesh. India ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah who last featured in the T20 World Cup 2024 final will also be seen leading India's pace attack in Chennai.
India have announced three wicketkeeper batters for the first Test match against Bangladesh. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel. As per PTI, Dhruv Jurel will be benched for the 1st Test match and Pant will be behind the wickets at Chepauk. KL Rahul will feature as a batter.
Chennai's pitch is spin-friendly and Rohit Sharma & Co. will go with three spinners and two pacers. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be part of the playing XI. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav will be the part of XI against Bangladesh.
“The spinners expected to feature are Ashwin, Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav while Bumrah and Siraj will share workload in the pace department. Axar Patel, despite his impressive all-round returns across formats, may have to sit out” reported PTI.

The visitors are confident as they are coming after beating Pakistan in their home ground. The second Test match between India and Bangladesh will be played at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from 27 September to 1 October.
