IND vs PAK, T20 World Cup: Babar Azam drops star player in blockbuster clash against India, Here's Playing XIs of both teams

India take on Pakistan as Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bowl first against India in their T20 World Cup 2024 clash at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9. The high-octane match is however, under rain threat, which has already seen a half-an-hour delay in the match. Talking about the Playing XI, India didn't tinker with their final eleven and fielded the same team they played against Ireland, which they won by eight wickets. Meanwhile, Babar Azam made a change and dropped Azam from Pakistan's playing XI.

What did the captains say?

India skipper Rohit Sharma, after losing the toss, said:

“Would've bowled first too. We need to assess how conditions play and come up with an idea of what a good score is. Those games have helped us assess conditions here. We've spoken about what we need to do as a batting unit to get a good score and then we've got the bowling unit to defend. Every game is important in a World Cup, you can't just show up. Anything can happen. We're sticking to the same XI”.

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Babar Azam, after winning the toss, said:

“We will bowl first because of the weather and moisture in the pitch. The conditions suit us, we have four fast bowlers. We will try to use it to our best. Past is past, we are looking forward to today's match, we are ready and will give our 100%. Always a big game, our confidence is always high for India vs Pak. Azam Khan is resting”.

This will be the eighth time India and Pakistan will be locking horns with each other in the T20 World Cup with Men in Blue having a clear edge over the Men in Green. While India have won six matches out of seven matches they have played so far against Pakistan.
