IND vs ZIM: India's 13 T20 World Cup-bound players excluded from T20I squad for series against Zimbabwe, only 2 included
India's 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe has been announced. Notably, Shubman Gill will be seen leading the India's pack.
The BCCI has finally announced India's 15-member squad for the T20I series against Zimbabwe which. Notably, Shubman Gill will be leading the India's pack in the T20I series against India as it will be his first captaincy stint for the Men in Blue, following his recent experience leading the Gujarat Titans in the IPL. However, the Titans unfortunately finished eighth in the IPL 2024.
The squad features five exciting debutants- Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Tushar Deshpande, and Dhruv Jurel. Jurel is the only one with prior international experience, having played a Test series against England earlier in 2024. All five players have impressed with consistent performances in the IPL 2024, earning them this well-deserved call-up to the national team.
Surprisingly, only two of the India's T20 World Cup-bound players have found their name in the T20I squad for the upcoming Zimbabwe series. Only Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the only players from the current lot of India's T20 World Cup 2024's main squad who will feature in the Zimbabwe series. Notably, Shubman and Rinku Singh too have been included in India's squad for the Zimbabwe series but they were included in Men in Blue's T20 World Cup squad as reserves. On the other hand, 13 of the T20 World Cup-bound Indian players, Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, who are currently busy in the mega event have been excluded from the India squad for the Zimbabwe series.

India will play a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe post the conclusion of T20 World Cup. The series is slated to kick off from July 6.
