Kishan specifically acknowledged the commendable performance of Mukesh Kumar, who emerged as India's most economical bowler in the game. Kumar's impressive figures of 4-0-32-0, especially his critical final over where he conceded only five runs, played a pivotal role in restricting the powerful Australian hitters like Tim David and Marcus Stoinis from scoring freely.
"Bowlers did a great job. We were put under pressure... Credit to Mukesh Kumar, the way he bowled," Kishan was quoted as saying to Jio Cinema.
Another highlight of the match was Suryakumar Yadav's outstanding innings. Yadav's explosive 80 runs off just 42 balls were central to India's chase of the formidable 209-run target, which they achieved with just one ball to spare. Following Yadav's dismissal, it was Rinku Singh's unbeaten 22 that steered the team to victory.
"Everyone was eager to do well for the team, especially Rinku - it was his first game against a big team," Kishan stated.
"Credit goes to Surya bhai for the way he played. He was taking on the bowlers... Plan was to give just 15-odd runs to the bowlers. The ball in which I got out, he was asking me to take a single. The communication was very good," he added.
Kishan's own performance was noteworthy as well. He contributed a valuable 58 runs off 39 deliveries, including two fours and five sixes, underscoring his importance in the team's batting lineup. This match also marked a record for India, as they achieved their highest successful run chase in T20I history.
Looking forward, the teams are gearing up for the second T20I, set to occur on Sunday, November 26 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. With the series off to such an electrifying start, fans and players alike are eagerly anticipating the upcoming matches, where India will aim to continue their winning momentum.
