The highly-anticipated India versus Pakistan match clash is set the thrill everyone, this time in T20 World Cup 2024 where the arch-rivals will be up against each other to renew their old rivalry on June 9 at at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium New in York. But the thrill will only get doubled up as this time around, India and Pakistan will be locking horns with each other in a snow-covered park-turned stadium.  

 

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently released a time-lapse video showcasing the progression of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. This stadium is set to host matches for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

 

The video highlights the transformation of a large, snow-laden park into a still-under-construction international cricket stadium.

India vs Pakistan to play in snow heaven

Work on the modular stadium kicked off on January 12, and in just a month, there has been notable advancement, especially in the development of the outfield and the East Stand. The construction of the East Stand, which is being built to seat 12,500 fans during games, is already well underway.

Work is also in progress for the outfield of the modular stadium, alongside the construction of the premium hospitality and media pavilions located on its north and south ends. Upon completion, the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is expected to accommodate 34,000 fans.

The venue is poised to host eight games during the T20 World Cup 2024. Among these, the eagerly awaited match between traditional rivals India and Pakistan is set for June 9. During the group phase, the stadium will act as the home ground for India, where they will face off against Ireland and the host nation, the USA.

Big update on team announcement

 

The T20 World Cup 2024 will be played from June 2 to June 29 across different venues in in the United States of America (USA) and West Indies jointly. Teams' squads haven't been announced yet which has kept the fans wondering. However, in a big update Sports Tak learnt that teams should be announced by May 1.

 

Not just this, teams will also have the option of playing two warm-up games depending on arrival time to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, any team's squad may comprise of 15 players and must be announced by May 1. However, changes can be made till May 25 but any thing after that must be approved by the ICC Technical Committee. Also an announcement on prize money will come in due course.

 

In the group stages of the 2024 T20 World Cup, India are scheduled to compete against Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the co-hosts, USA. Notably, Rohit Sharma will lead India in the T20 World Cup 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah recently confirmed during an event on February 14. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya will be Rohit Sharma's deputy in the showpiece tournament.
