Indian spinner rises to third spot on ICC T20I bowlers' rankings ahead of T20 World Cup 2024
ICC T20I Rankings: There were a few changes in the newly released ICC T20I bowling rankings. Hardik Pandya lost one spot in the all-rounder rankings.
India's left-arm spinner Axar Patel broke into the top three of ICC T20I rankings ahead of T20 World Cup 2024. West Indies' Akeal Hosein who bagged just one wicket in the recently-concluded three-T20I series against South Africa slipped five places to no.8.
The top spot is occupied by England's Adil Rashid. He is followed by Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga. Four other bowlers benefitted from Hosein's slip in rankings.
Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana is in fourth position tied with Ravi Bishnoi followed by Australia's Josh Hazlewood and Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan. The ninth spot is occupied by England left-arm pacer Reece Topley. South Africa's left-arm chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi slipped three places to the no.10th spot. Arshdeep gained three places and now occupies the 16th spot.
Batters rankings
Meanwhile, in the batter’s rankings, Suryakumar Yadav occupies the top spot. There were a few changes in top 10 as well. South Africa's Rilee Rossouw slipped three places to no.10. West Indies' stand-in T20I captain in the series against South Africa climbed five places to no.8.
All-rounder rankings
In the all-rounder rankings, Hardik Pandya slipped one place to no.8 as England's vice-captain Moeen Ali moved up two spots to seventh. Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan's rating points took a hit. He is second in the rankings. Australia's Marcus Stoinis and South Africa captain Aiden Markram interchanged places (fifth and sixth) despite not playing a single game since Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

India’s only T20 World Cup warm-up game
Rohit Sharma-led India have opted to play only one warm-up game before T20 World Cup 2024 in the US and West Indies. India will take on Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh in the warm-up encounter on June 1.
India’s T20 World Cup 2024 first round clashes
India will start their campaign against Ireland at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York on June 5. The much-awaited high-voltage contest against Pakistan will be played at the same venue on June 9. India will play their third game in New York as well. They will go up against in-form USA on June 12. The fourth and final Group A clash for India will be against Canada at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida.
