During the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) former captain MS Dhoni showcased his power-hitting skills in the last over by hitting three consecutive sixes off Hardik Pandya’s bowling, scoring a total of 20 runs from just four balls. This performance helped the Chennai-based franchise set a formidable total of 206 /4 in their 20 overs. Shivam Dube also contributed significantly, scoring 66 runs off 38 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes.

In response, despite a brilliant unbeaten century from Rohit Sharma, who scored an unbeaten 105 runs off 63 balls, the Mumbai Indians could only manage 186/6 in their 20 overs. The lack of support from other batters meant Mumbai fell short by 20 runs.

After the match, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was visibly pleased and playfully teased Dhoni about his explosive batting in the final over. Despite Dhoni's age, 42, his ability to finish games strongly remains intact, proving crucial in Chennai's victory.

"The young wicket-keeper scoring those three sixes helped us a lot, that proved to be the difference. We needed those 10-15 extra runs for this kind of venue. In the middle phase, Bumrah bowled really well," Ruturaj told the broadcasters after the game, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Following their victory, the Chennai Super Kings maintained their third-place position in the standings, while the Mumbai Indians dropped to eighth. Chennai has achieved four wins and two losses in the six matches they've played this season. Conversely, the Mumbai-based team has managed only two victories in their six games so far.
