IPL 2024: Complete list of marquee players who will miss the upcoming Indian Premier League with injuries or personal reasons

Let's take a look at the list of players who have so far withdrawn from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to injuries or personal reasons.

IPL 2024 is set to commence on March 22 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. All the ten teams of the IPL will be back in action competing for the title but the injuries and withdrawal at the last moment have made franchises go for replacements.

Several international players are out of this edition due to injury or personal reasons or managing their workload. Let's take a look at the list of players who have withdrawn from the IPL 2024 due to injuries or personal reasons.

Mohammed Shami (GT)

India’s star pacer and leading wicket-taker in the World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami has not featured in any game since the World Cup final against Australia in November 2023. Shami played the World Cup carrying a heel injury. Shami underwent surgery last month in London and has entered into his rehabilitation. He is also ruled out of the T20 World Cup in June. GT has not named any replacement for their leading pacer.

Jason Behrendorff (MI)

Jason Behrendorff, the Australian pacer, is ruled out of this edition due to injury and is replaced by England’s left-arm pacer Luke Wood.

Prasidh Krishna (RR)

For the second year in a row, RR pacer Prasidh Krishna is ruled out of the IPL because of another injury. Prasidh underwent surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. RR has not named any replacement yet.

Harry Brook (DC)

England's aggressive batter Harry Brook has been out of the action since December 2023 and he also missed the five test matches in India. He later revealed that he wanted to spend time with his family after the passing away of his grandmother. DC has not named any replacement for Brook yet.

Lungi Ngidi (DC)

South African pacer Lungi Ngidi was ruled out of the IPL a week before. He has not featured in any game since January after he suffered a left lateral ankle sprain in the T20I series against India. DC named Jake Fraser-McGurk as Ngidi's replacement.

Jason Roy (KKR)

English batter Jason Roy has recently pulled out of the IPL due to personal reasons. KKR has named Phil Salt as his replacement, who smashed two centuries in T20Is against West Indies. Phil Salt represented Delhi Capitals last year but was unsold in the year’s auction.

Gus Atkinson (KKR) 

Gus Atkinson, England’s new upcoming decided to pull out of his maiden IPL season due to the Work Load Management concerns by England Cricket Board (ECB). KKR named Dushmantha Chameera as the replacement for Gus Atkinson.

Mark Wood (LSG)

England pacer Mark Wood was ruled out of the IPL 2024 season when the England Cricket Board (ECB) decided to pull him out due to workload management concerns. Wood recently featured in the test series against India. He played for LSG last season and picked 11 wickets. LSG has named West Indies young pacer Shamar Joseph as his replacement.

Suryakumar Yadav

No.1 ranked T20 batter Suryakumar Yadav is yet to join the Mumbai Indians camp. Currently, he is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Surya has been in recovery since December 2023 when he suffered a Sports Hernia for which he underwent surgery in Germany. He is set to miss the first few matches for his franchise.

Devon Conway (CSK) 

New Zealand opener Devon Conway is ruled out of the first half of the IPL 2024. He suffered a thumb injury during the recent series against Australia. Devon Conway was the highest run-getter for CSK last season. He scored 672 runs from 16 matches and was the player of the match in the final against Gujarat Titans. His absence in the initial few matches will make CSK go for the new opening combination.

Matheesha Pathirana (CSK)

Sri Lankan Pacer Matheesha Pathirana is ruled out for at least four weeks of the 2024 IPL. He suffered a hamstring injury during the recent T20I series against Bangladesh. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said that he has suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury.

Dilshan Madhushanka (MI)

The Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka is expected to be ruled out of the IPL for a few weeks. He suffered a hamstring injury during the series against Bangladesh and was ruled out of the series decider.
