KKR vs MI Playing XIs: Hardik Pandya puts Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first in rain-shortened clash, know playing conditions here

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on Mumbai Indians (MI) as Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first in their rain-curtailed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash at the Eden Gardens stadium on May 11. The match was earlier scheduled to start at 7:30 pm but due to incessant rain at the Eden Gardens stadium it will now commence at 9:15 pm, and it will be a 16-over per side contest. 

What did the captains say?

After losing the toss, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer said:

“I tried it another time (toss), still it came down as heads (smiles at his record on losing tosses). It's part and parcel but it such games it's crucial. Not going to take those excuses though. We want the Q next to our team. Nitish comes in for Angkrish.”

Meanwhile, MI captain Hardik Pandya, after winning the toss, said:

“We are going to bowl. Just want to see how the pitch behaves. It has been under covers for two days. We all are aware of the stats, but you got to turn up and play good cricket on the day. Same team.”

KKR and MI have competed in 33 matches in the IPL so far. Of these encounters, Kolkata have secured victories in 10 matches, while Mumbai have triumphed in 23.

 

Pitch report

"This is pitch no.5, the last game played on it was on the 23rd March against SRH. 67m and 62m boundaries, 75m down the ground. The spinners might quite like it. It’s been under covers for so long so the spinners might get some purchase. If the pacers get it slightly wrong, it’ll disappear. It’s very cool here at Kolkata so it might swing around a bit," Danny Morrison analysed the pitch.
