IPL 2024 Orange Cap: KL Rahul snatches Rishabh Pant's spot to sneak into top 5 after T20 World Cup snub following LSG vs MI clash, Virat on top

Orange Cap: LSG skipper KL Rahul grabbed the fourth spot in the IPL 2024's leading run-scorers' list after 28-run knock against MI on April 30.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul is once again become a contender for the Orange Cap in the IPL 2024. In a recent match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 30, he scored 28 runs from 22 balls. Earlier, on April 27, he impressed with a 76-run performance from 48 balls against the Rajasthan Royals. With these efforts, KL Rahul has overtaken Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant, who has now dropped to fifth place. Meanwhile, Phil Salt of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who had briefly entered the top five after scoring 68 runs from 33 balls against DC on April 29, is no longer in contention.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Sai Sudharsan continue to hold the second and third spots, respectively. In a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 28, Gaikwad narrowly missed scoring his second century of the season. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) superstar batter Virat Kohli remains at the top, still holding the orange cap, as no other batter has surpassed him.

Here is the updated list of batters who are in contention for the Orange Cap after the LSG vs MI: 

 

1. Virat Kohli (RCB): The King remains on top! Kohli leads the pack with a whopping 500 runs in just 10 matches, boasting a blistering strike rate of 147.49. He's already notched up a century and 4 half-centuries, proving his dominance at the crease.

 

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK): The CSK captain seems to have overcome a rough patch early in the season. He's back in form with 447 runs under his belt in 9 matches, maintaining a high strike rate of 149.49. His tally includes 3 half-centuries and a well-deserved century.

3. Sai Sudharsan (GT): This young talent from Tamil Nadu is making a name for himself! Sudharsan has impressed everyone with his consistent batting, scoring 418 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 135.71. He's already registered two crucial half-centuries.

 

4. KL Rahul (LSG): After a slow start with just one half-century, the LSG skipper has found his rhythm. He's climbed the ranks with 406 runs in 10 matches, maintaining a healthy strike rate of 142.95. Rahul has also added 3 half-centuries to his name.

 

5. Rishabh Pant (DC): Making a strong comeback after a serious accident, the Indian wicket-keeper is proving his mettle. Pant has amassed 398 runs in 11 matches, showcasing his aggressive style with a strike rate of 158.56. He's contributed significantly with 3 half-centuries.
