IPL 2024 Orange Cap: Rishabh Pant and Phil Salt storm into top 5 of leading run-scorers list; check here

Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant scored 27 runs off 20 balls in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders and now holds the fourth position in the Orange Cap race.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opening batter Phil Salt has entered into contention for the Orange Cap after showing tremendous form in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On April 29, in a match against Delhi Capitals (DC), Phil Salt smashed 68 runs off 33 balls, leading his team to a seven-wicket victory. In the same match, DC skipper Rishabh Pant scored 27 runs off 20 balls and now holds the fourth position in the Orange Cap race.

Pant had also played a significant innings of 88 runs off 43 balls against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 24.

This shift has seen players like Sanju Samson and KL Rahul drop out of the Orange Cap contention. GT batter Sai Sudharsan remains in third place after playing an 84 runs off 49 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 28.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad retained his position in the Orange Cap race, having smashed 98 runs off 54 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 28 and scoring a century against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

RCB star batter Virat Kohli continues to lead in the Orange Cap race. Kohli played a knock of 70 race off 44 balls against GT on April 28.

Here is the updated list of batters who are in contention for the Orange Cap after the KKR vs DC match:

Virat Kohli (RCB)

The Indian star batter Virat Kohli remains unmatched in the Orange Cap race. He has scored 500 runs in just 10 matches at a strike rate of 147.49, including a century and four half-centuries.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the CSK skipper, had a slow start to the season but has since regained his form. Gaikwad has amassed 447 runs from nine matches at a strike rate of 149.49, recording three half-centuries and a century this season.

Sai Sudharsan (GT)

Sai Sudharsan, the young talent from Tamil Nadu, has made a significant impact in this IPL. He has scored 418 runs from 10 matches at a strike rate of 135.71, including two half-centuries.

Rishabh Pant (DC)

After a horrific car accident, Rishabh Pant has made a remarkable comeback. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter has scored 398 runs from 11 matches at a strike rate of 158.56, which includes three half-centuries.

Phil Salt (KKR)

The 27-year-old English wicketkeeper, who replaced Jason Roy in KKR's squad, has impressed everyone with his explosive batting. Phil Salt has scored 392 runs in just nine matches, including four half-centuries, at an outstanding strike rate of 180.64.
