Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar's three-fer restrict CSK on 167/9

Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar's three-wicket hauls supported by two wickets from Arshdeep Singh and one from Sam Curran helped Punjab Kings to restrict Chennai Super Kings to 167/9 in 20 overs. They gave constant blows to Chennai batters and didn't allow them to reach a big total.

Star pacer Harshal Patel even dismissed MS Dhoni on a golden duck. This was the former CSK captain's second dismissal in this season and his first without scoring a run. Even Shivam Dube registered his second consecutive golden duck in IPL 2024.

CSK bowlers fight back

Ravindra Jadeja put on an astonishing performance with the ball as well. He picked up three big wickets in his four-over spell and just gave away 20 runs. He rattled the Punjab Kings' middle order to bring CSK back into the game.

In the beginning, Tushar Deshpande dismissed both Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw in the same over to give CSK an early advantage. Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh joined a crucial 53-rn partnership but nobody apart from them could even stand in front of the Chennai attack and as a result lost the match by runs.

Jadeja picked up three wickets. Tushar Deshpande and Simarjeet Singh grabbed two wickets each. Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur and Mitchell Santner picked one wicket each as well. Chennai has returned to the top four of the points table with this win and have gained a major boost to their chances of reaching the playoffs.
