IPL 2024: RCB captain Faf du Plessis' emotional and painful admission after RCB's sixth loss of the season; says '...mind is going to explode'
RCB captain Du Plessis expressed his pain after his team lost yet another game this season and slipped to six losses and one win after seven matches.
After the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lost their sixth match of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), captain Faf du Plessis couldn't hold back his emotions. The Bengaluru-based franchise lost a record-shattering match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 25 runs. It was a breathtaking game of cricket in which the bowlers were mauled by the batters and most runs in a T20 match ever were mounted as both teams combined for 549 runs. A total of 36 sixes and 43 fours were smashed in 240 balls.
Faf du Plessis honest admission
RCB captain Du Plessis expressed his pain after his team lost yet another game this season and slipped to six losses and one win after seven matches. The RCB captain underlined the importance of being mentally tough in a game of cricket and said that sometimes there is a feeling that the miss is going to explode.
"Much better (batting performance) from us, that was a proper t20 wicket. Just tried to get close in the end, but 280 was very far. It's tough. We tried a few things, we tried different things. There's no way to hide when your confidence is low," Faf du Plessis told the broadcasters after the game, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
"The fast bowlers found it quite difficult out there. Similar to the batting perspective, we need to work on few areas. Need to make sure the run rate doesn't go down after powerplay. The guys put up their hand and never gave up (in the run chase). It was good to see the fight, 30-40 runs from the bowling perspective was a bit too much.
"It's important to go away and freshen your mind, it's such a mental game. Sometimes you feel your mind is going to explode. When you get back to the contest you have to give full commitment," he added.
The loss against the Sunrisers was RCB's fifth consecutive defeat of the season. The franchise is now in a must-win situation from hereon as any more slip-up would once again draw curtain to their dream of winning the IPL.
