IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant brutally slammed by Michael Clarke for post-match comments, says 'I think he got it...'

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke was unimpressed with Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant's post-match comments after his team were bulldozed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on April 29 (Monday). The Capitals, who entered the game beaming with confidence as they had won four of the five games prior to the clash against KKR, were completely outplayed at the Eden Gardens and the Knight Riders registered an emphatic seven-wicket win with 21 balls remaining in the contest.

After the game, DC skipper Pant defended his decision to bat first after winning the toss but affirmed that his team should have scored 40-50 more runs on that pitch. Delhi Capitals could only manage to score 153/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

Michael Clarke hits out at Pant's comments

Michael Clarke lashed out at Pant for electing to bat first and also criticised the DC skipper for his remarks after losing the game against the Knight Riders.

"I am not sure if I agree with everything that was said after the game. You win, you got it right, you lose, and then you did not get it right. I think he got it wrong in electing to bat on that surface. And I don't think they were 10 runs short, they were 50 runs short," Clarke told Star Sports.

"There were still 3.3 overs left in the run-chase and KKR were only 3 wickets down. KKR would have made at least another 40 if not 50. So, I think DC needed 200 if they were going to bat first," he stated.

Rishabh Pant's team lost their sixth game of the season but remained in sixth place on the points table. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders consolidated their second position on the standings as they now have six wins in nine matches played this season thus far.
