Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) superstar Suresh Raina took a hilarious dig at the three Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, who have been part of the cash-rich tournament since the inaugural season but haven't won a single title yet. Raina, who played a monumental role in making CSK the box-office franchise that it is today, revealed that the reason behind the Super Kings winning five IPL titles was that the players of the team never partied.

More party, no trophy

Raina also spoke about why franchises like the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings have never won the prestigious IPL title. The former IPL superstar affirmed that if players party in the night then how will they perform at the optimum level, especially in the stamina-sapping heat during the Indian summer?

"Chennai never partied. That's why they have been the most successful. 2-3 teams who partied have not won the IPL yet. Laughs (Do you mean RCB?). No, there are a few teams who haven't won, they must have partied hard," Raina told The Lallantop.

"We (CSK) didn't do it. That's why we have 5 IPL trophies and 2 Champions League trophies. MI also have won 5 trophies.

"If you party late into the night, how will you play in the morning? In May-June's heat, how will you play afternoon games if you have partied all night?" he added.

Another chance for RCB, DC and PBKS

The ongoing season of the cash-rich tournament presents yet another opportunity for franchises like the RCB, DC and PBKS to end their title drought. Having said that, the three teams have begun the ongoing season slowly and are languishing in the bottom half of the points table. While RCB is dead last in the standings, the PBKS are in ninth position, just one place ahead of RCB. DC are in the seventh place.
