Ahead of the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), let's compare the prize money of the IPL with the other franchise-based T20 leagues in the world.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is called the cash-rich tournament for a reason. The amount of money involved in the competition is mammoth. Be it franchises breaking their banks to secure the services of players in the auction or the champion team receiving a whopping cheque for winning the tournament, the money involved makes the IPL even more lucrative. Ahead of the 17th season of the IPL, let's compare the prize money of the IPL with the other franchise-based T20 leagues in the world.

ODI World Cup Prize Money

After Australia won the ODI World Cup in 2023, the Baggy Greens were awarded a cheque of Rs 33 crore while runners-up India took home a cheque of Rs 16 crore.

IPL Prize Money

In each of the last three seasons of the IPL, the franchise that won the title was awarded with a prize money of Rs 20 crore. The runners-up received a cheque of Rs 13 crore.

SA20 Prize Money

The franchise that wins the South Africa T20 (SA20) league is awarded with a prize money of Rs 15 crore.

World Test Championship (WTC) Prize Money

Australia received a prize money of around Rs 13.35 crore after winning the World Test Championship (WTC) title in 2023. India, who finished runners-up, bagged approximately Rs 6.5 crore.

T20 World Cup Prize Money

In 2022, England received a prize money of Rs 13 crore after winning the T20 World Cup while Pakistan received a cheque of Rs 6.5 crore for finishing runners-up.

Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Prize Money

The franchise that wins the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) receives a cheque of Rs 8.14 crore.

Women's Premier League (WPL) Prize Money

The champions of ILT20 receive a prize money of Rs 5.7 crore.

Big Bash League (BBL) Prize Money

The team that wins the Big Bash League (BBL) receives a cheque of Rs 3.66 crore.

The Hundred Prize Money

The team that wins The Hundred competition is awarded with a cheque of Rs 1.3 crore.
