Jasprit Bumrah's big statement on retirement during Team India felicitation ceremony at Wankhede, says 'my retirement is...'

The hero of the T20 World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah, truly cemented his status as a once-in-a-generation bowler. His phenomenal performances across formats over the past few years culminated in him weaving magic throughout the tournament. His match-winning spells were instrumental in securing India's second T20 World Cup title, and his efforts were rightly recognised with the Player of the Tournament award. He finished the tournament with a staggering 15 wickets at an average of just 8.26, and an even more impressive economy rate of 4.17. The team's journey home wasn't without its challenges.  Hurricane Beryl forced them to remain in Barbados for a few extra days.  However, upon their return, India received a hero's welcome. They first met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, followed by a celebratory victory parade that snaked its way from Marine Drive to the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Jasprit Bumrah on his retirement talks

The celebrations culminated at the Wankhede Stadium with a special felicitation ceremony. Jasprit Bumrah, the Player of the Tournament, took center stage as he addressed the crowd.  He spoke passionately about the significance of the victory and reassured fans that this was just the beginning for him.

When asked about his retirement Bumrah clearly stated that it's far far away and said that he has just started.

“My retirement is far far away, I've just started,” Bumrah said during India's felicitation ceremony.

With the recent retirements of veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja from T20Is, Bumrah's leadership qualities will be crucial as he mentors and guides the next generation of Indian cricketers.  His commitment to the team ensures the Indian cricketing flag will continue to fly high.

 

“It feels amazing. This ground is amazing in my life. I came as an U19 kid. I have never seen anything like it. To experience this and the emotions after the game, I have never experienced it,” Bumrah added.

 

“I will count myself as lucky. The experienced players and the confidence that we had. The ability to grab the game by the scruff of their neck is simply magnificent. Our aim is to take Indian cricket forward. We have never won a World Cup before. This gives us more motivation,” he further added.
